A good healing process is essential for a long lasting beautiful tattoo

Second Skin Aftercare

  1. This bandage can be left on for 3-5 days. The bandage is water resistant, so you can shower as normal, but avoid submerging the bandage in water such as baths or pools and avoid excessive exposure to the sun.

  2. The easiest way to remove a second skin style bandage is going to be under warm (NOT HOT) running water. Lift the bottom edge of the bandage covering your new tattoo, and slowly pull the bandage edge downward while keeping your hand parallel to the body.

  3. After removing, wash the tattoo with Dial antibacterial hand soap (as pictured below under “recommended products”), pat the area dry with a paper towel, and apply a light layer of lotion (also pictured below), not ointment.

  4. Wash and moisturize this same way (always with clean hands!)  twice a day for the next 3-4 weeks, or until the skin is healed over. DO NOT pick at or scratch the tattoo, even if it itches!

Saran Wrap Aftercare

  1. After 1-4 hours, wash your hands thoroughly, and remove the tattoo dressing. Wash the tattoo with unscented antibacterial soap. Allow to air dry and apply a thin layer of aquaphor.

  2. Continue to clean, dry, and apply ointment 2 times a day (always with clean hands) for 3 days.

  3. On the 4th day, your routine will stay the same, but instead of aquaphor you should switch to lotion (under recommended products). DO NOT pick at or scratch the tattoo, even if it itches! You can reapply the moisturizer if the skin feels tight or flaky, but you shouldn’t reapply more than 3 or 4 times a day.

Working Out

  • Avoid working out for the first few days. Sweat under the bandage (especially with second skin aftercare) can impact the heal of your new tattoo. You can workout as normal after day three and the second skin is removed.

  • WASH YOUR TATTOO IMMEDIATELY AFTER WORKING OUT.

Don’ts

  • Don’t soak the tattoo in water until fully healed.

  • No long exposure under running water.

  • Don’t expose it to direct sunlight until fully healed- approximately 3-4 weeks.
